Dermatology FAQs

North Sound Dermatology is one of the most trusted and reputable practices in the Washington area, serving residents all over the state – including those in the Seattle and Everett areas. We strive to give you a comfortable and relaxing experience, as our patients are our number one priority.

What will my first visit involve?

The first appointment usually lasts from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the nature of your concerns. We will review your medical history and other information that you provide. We will then perform a comprehensive skin examination, and provide you with a customized treatment plan. If a diagnosis cannot be attained from a skin examination alone, additional steps, such as a blood test or skin biopsy, may be needed. You are welcome and encouraged to ask questions, voice your concerns, and discuss your goals. Your skin care is all about you!

What conditions can my board-certified dermatologist treat?

A dermatologist can diagnose and treat many conditions that affect the nails, hair, and mucous membranes, in addition to the skin. These include, but are not limited to, acne, rosacea, warts, eczema/dermatitis, psoriasis, bacterial or fungal infections, and skin cancers. Dermatologists can also treat wrinkles, sun spots (age spots/liver spots), rosacea (redness of the face), sun-damaged skin, unwanted hair, acne scars, surgery scars, spider veins on the legs, small varicose veins, stretch marks, and melasma (facial pigmentation).

What is the cost of dermatologic treatment?

Like any medical care, the costs will vary depending on the nature and extent of the condition being treated. In many cases, insurance policies will cover all or part of the cost. Our knowledgeable providers will gladly help you receive the maximum benefit from your insurance. We offer many financing and payment options and will work with you to ensure that your skin care is both convenient and affordable.

Do I need to have a referral from another doctor to see a dermatologist?

If you have any medical or cosmetic skin concerns, simply call our office and we will schedule an appointment at your convenience. We will be able to tell you whether a referral is necessary or not.
