Dermatological team in Mill Creek highlights skin care tips for men

The North Sound Dermatology Aesthetics team enjoys helping both men and women achieve their skin care goals. We can develop a skin care regimen based on the unique qualities of your skin after performing a thorough consultation and skin evaluation. Our team proudly serves patients at our offices in Mill Creek, Monroe, Smokey Point, Everett, and South Everett.

Proper skin care is as important for men as it is for women. We are happy to provide several tips.

  1. Consider a liquid cleanser. Although bar soap may seem convenient and affordable, it tends to dry the skin more than liquid cleansers. Soap can result in dry, itchy skin. If you must use soap, we recommend moisturizing soaps that include emollients such as glycerin. If you have oily skin, consider soap or liquid cleanser that contains salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or glycolic acid. These exfoliating agents allow for deeper cleaning of the pores and have antibacterial properties.
  2. Consider a moisturizer. After washing your face, apply a moisturizer to moisten your skin. For dry skin, choose a cream. Consider a lotion for normal skin. For oily skin, choose a skin toner or gel. Our licensed Master Medical Aestheticians can help you identify the right moisturizer for your skin type. We also offer an array of medical grade skin care products that can help you attain attractive looking and more youthful looking skin. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends an everyday moisturizer with SPF 30.
  3. Consider making changes to your shaving regimen. If you suffer from cuts, nicks, razor bumps, or razor burn, it may be time for a change. Shaving cream with moisturizers can prevent skin irritation. Leave water on your face for a minute to soften beard hair before shaving. Certain types of oil can also be applied several minutes before shaving to soften the hair follicles and moisturize the skin.

Regardless of the weather, always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 on a daily basis for incidental sun exposure, in order to protect your skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. To learn more about how to safeguard your skin and keep it in excellent skin condition, please call 425-336-4876.
