Meet Our Providers

Mireille Chae, MD, FAAD

Pediatric Dermatologist in Seattle, WAShe is one of only three board-certified pediatric dermatologists in the state. She is also one of only a few dermatologists in the state who is also board-certified in dermatopathology.

Dr. Chae completed her pediatrics residency with the University of Minnesota, and her dermatology residency with Chicago’s Rush-Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center. She then went on to the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her fellowship training in dermatopathology.

She has extensive training and experience in cosmetic dermatology, including Botox, dermal fillers, sclerotherapy for leg veins and laser therapies.

She is a widely respected dermatopathologist, pediatric dermatologist and cosmetic dermatologist.

Katrina Bassett, MD, FAAD

Dermatologist in Seattle, WADr. Bassett is a board-certified dermatologist whose practice is focused on medical dermatology, particularly cases that are diagnostically or therapeutically challenging.

She especially enjoys working with children, and she dedicated an entire year of her dermatology residency to pediatric dermatology.

Dr. Bassett graduated with a B.S. in Zoology, Magna Cum Laude, from Brigham Young University. She then went on to Loma Linda University, where she earned her M.D. Degree, with the prestigious honor of Alpha Omega Alpha. She then completed her dermatology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Joy Wu, DO, FAAD

Dermatologist in Seattle, WADr. Wu is a board-certified dermatologist with a special interest in medical dermatology.

Prior to joining North Sound Dermatology, she served as Chief of Dermatology for Alaska’s Elmendorf Air Force Base, and then went into private practice in Anchorage.

Dr. Wu attended the University of Maryland, where she earned her M.S. in Physiology. She then attended the University of New England (UNE), College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and membership in the Psi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. She served with the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon, and then completed her dermatology residency in San Diego at the Naval Medical Center.

Mike Wentzell, MD, FAAD, FACMS

Mohs Micrographic Surgeon in Seattle, WADr. Wentzell is a fellowship-trained Mohs Micrographic Surgeon and performs Mohs surgery and consults with skin cancer patients in our Smokey Point, Mill Creek, and Anacortes offices.

He is an internationally-renowned Mohs surgeon who speaks at both national and international meetings on a regular basis. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and has served as a reviewer for the New England Journal of Medicine, Dermatologic Surgery and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Wentzell was the fellowship training director for the Mohs surgery program in Montana for over 10 years before moving to the Seattle area. Within the American College of Mohs Surgery, Dr. Wentzell has been bestowed the title of “Most Innovative Mohs Surgeon in North America.”

After serving as a naval officer, he completed a Biophysics Research Fellowship at Yale University, and then went on to complete his Bachelor of Science Magna Cum Laude, after which he obtained his MD from the University of Rochester. He completed his dermatology residency at Dartmouth and his fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at Northwestern University.

Dr. Wentzell is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology. He has received numerous awards from these societies for his innovative research in Mohs surgery.

Sowmya Ravi-Jeyamohan, MD, FAAD, FACMS

Dermatologist in Seattle, WADr. Ravi-Jeyamohan is a board-certified dermatologist and one of only four fellowship-trained Mohs Micrographic Surgeons in the county.

She completed her fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, after having completed a residency in dermatology at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. She obtained her MD degree Cum Laude at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society). Prior to that, she obtained a B.S. in Biology from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Ravi-Jeyamohan has spent the past 14 years researching melanoma and other cancers at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Maryland. Her research has been published in some of the world’s most respected, peer-reviewed journals and she has also presented her findings at both national and international conferences.

Dr. Ravi-Jeyamohan currently serves as President of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and was nominated by her peers for membership in the Gold Humanism Honor Society for high academic achievement, professionalism and compassion. She has also received numerous other academic awards from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Ravi-Jeyamohan is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Ravi-Jeyamohan enjoys reading, gardening, baking and exercise.

Eingun James Song, MD, FAAD

Dermatologist in Seattle, WADr. Song is a board-certified dermatologist with an interest in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Song graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience. He went on to attend medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago graduating with highest distinction and earning multiple awards and honors, including election into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

Dr. Song then moved to the West Coast to complete his dermatology residency at the University of California Irvine. While in residency, he consistently scored in the top percentile nationwide on the annual American Board of Dermatology examination.

Dr. Song has published in numerous well-respected, peer-reviewed journals.

Hyunhee Park, DO, FAAD

Dermatologist in Seattle, WADr. Park is a general, aesthetic and surgical dermatologist who cares deeply about treating her patients with compassion and empowering them with knowledge about their dermatological care.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington, after which she went on to receive her medical degree from Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Park then completed her intern training at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Nevada. Pursing her interest in research, she went on to complete a research fellowship at the Center for Clinical and Cosmetic Research in Aventura, Florida, where she served as a sub-investigator and clinical research coordinator for numerous medical and cosmetic dermatology research studies. She completed her dermatology residency training at Wellington Regional Medical Center and Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Park is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. She is also a member of several other professional societies, including the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Women’s Association.

Dr. Park has published numerous articles on medical and cosmetic dermatology in several, well-respected, peer-reviewed journals.

She is fluent in Korean and Spanish, and enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cooking, watching movies and dramas, as well as hiking.

John Zhang, M.D., PHD.

Dr. John Zhang is double board-certified in Dermatopathology, as well as in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

He completed his fellowship in Dermatopathology at the University of Washington, mentored by the then president of the American Society of Dermatopathology, Dr. Zsolt Argenyi. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Zhang completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. Prior to that, Dr. Zhang spent 6 years as a researcher at Johns Hopkins University and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he obtained his Ph.D. in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology.

His research has been published in some of the world’s most respected, peer-reviewed journals and he has also presented his research findings at both national and international conferences.

Dr. Zhang has won awards from the American Society of Dermatopathology, as well as the National Institutes of Health.He held positions in leadership committees in the College of American Pathologists, and is also a member of the American Society of Dermatopathology.

In his free time, Dr. Zhang is also a photographer, a runner and an exercise enthusiast. He always likes to convince his family and friends that physical fitness leads to psychosocial well-being. “I work better when I work out,” he says.

Vena Melendez, MMSc, PA-C

Dermatologist in Seattle, WAMs. Melendez is a Board-Certified Dermatology PA with twelve years of experience in the medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology.

She has extensive training and experience with injecting Botox and dermal fillers, as well as using several different cosmetic IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and laser systems.

Ms. Melendez earned her Bachelor of Science degree at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). She then went on to attend Emory University School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant Program, where she graduated with honors, earning a M.M.Sc. (Master of Medical Science) degree. She was the recipient of multiple honors and awards for her clinical and academic excellence.

Craig Baugher, MPAS, PA-C

Dermatologist in Seattle, WAMr. Baugher is a Board-Certified Dermatology PA with more than ten years of experience in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.

His practice is focused on medical dermatology and skin cancer surgery. Prior to joining North Sound Dermatology, he worked with a well-known, highly-respected dermatology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery practice in Seattle.

Mr. Baugher graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he earned his Bachelor of Clinical Health Sciences degree. He then went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine, where he earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree, with specialization in Dermatologic Surgery.

Katelyn Rowland, ARNP

Dermatologist in Seattle, WAMs. Rowland is a Board-Certified Dermatology Nurse Practitioner with a special interest in medical and cosmetic dermatology.

She completed her Nurse Practitioner training at Boston College where she earned her Master of Science degree with Honors.

Ms. Rowland comes to us having previously worked in nationally-recognized dermatology practices in Boston and Seattle. Most recently, she was in private practice in Mount Vernon in a large dermatology group. She has extensive experience in medical and cosmetic dermatology, including neuromodulators (Botox) and various cosmetic lasers.

She is a member of the National Academy of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners, the Dermatology Nurses Association and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

Ms. Rowland enjoys playing soccer in her free time. She has competed at the highest collegiate level, as well as semi-professionally.

Pegi Stewart, RN, BSN

Cosmetic Injection Specialist in Seattle, WAPegi Stewart, RN, BSN, is a highly-regarded, Cosmetic Injection Specialist and national trainer for the makers of various neuromodulators and dermal fillers, as well as sclerotherapy agents used for treating leg veins.

She has spent the past 12 years training plastic surgeons, dermatologists and nurse injectors in the art of injecting neuromodulators and various dermal fillers, as well as Asclera which is used to treat leg veins. More recently, she has been training these physicians on how to use Cellfina, a new long-term treatment for cellulite.

Pegi has over 12 years of experience in using advanced techniques for injecting Botox, Xeomin, Dysport and various dermal fillers, including Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, Radiesse and Belotero.

She has also served as a Senior Aesthetic Clinical Educator and Medical Device Liaison for Merz where she won numerous ‘Clinical Specialist of the Year’ awards and was responsible for training physicians in and out-of- state. She also was responsible for global interactions with industry Key Opinion Leaders.

Pegi obtained her RN and BSN degrees from Washington State University and then went on to work as an ICU nurse for several years. She then joined one of the state’s most respected Facial Plastic Surgery practices in Kirkland where her practice was focused on facial rejuvenation using Botox and dermal fillers, as well as treating leg veins by sclerotherapy.

Heather Dahl, Lead CLT/LMA

Master Medical Aesthetician in Seattle, WAHeather Dahl is a highly-respected, Licensed Master Medical Aesthetician and nationally-certified laser technician. Heather has been working in the cosmetic medicine and anti-aging field since 2006, specializing in laser and energy-based treatments. She has gained her experience working in some of the most prestigious cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery practices in Seattle and Bellevue. She enjoys a very large following of loyal clients and patients from the greater Seattle region, as well as from out-of-state.

Heather is licensed in Washington State as a Master Medical Aesthetician, having received her certification as a medical aesthetician from the Euro Institute in Seattle, where she is a guest instructor at the annual Medical Aesthetics Course.

She has been certified as a cosmetic laser technician by the National Council on Laser Certification, as well as by the National Laser Institute, two prestigious national laser certifying bodies. Heather also has laser certifications from multiple laser manufacturers, including Palomar/Cynosure, Syneron, Alma, Lumenis, BTL, and Thermi.

Heather is very experienced in performing several different cosmetic procedures and has won many national awards for her exceptional results using non-surgical body contouring technologies, including for non-surgical fat reduction, non-surgical skin tightening and non-surgical feminine rejuvenation. In 2015, Heather won a prestigious national award for ‘Best Non-Surgical Facial Contouring Results’ using the Exilis radiofrequency device for non-surgical skin tightening. This competition was open to all plastic surgeons and cosmetic dermatologists around the country. Her impressive results will be published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Her results in correcting skin contour irregularities in patients who have received liposuction and Coolsculpting fat reduction treatments (at other practices) was also published in an aesthetic medical journal.

She also won 2nd place in the ‘Best Non-Surgical Body Shaping Results’ category at the prestigious ‘The Aesthetics Show’ 2015 aesthetic medicine conference. This conference is widely regarded as the most important annual cosmetic medicine meeting in the country. Heather was competing against cosmetic physicians across the country, including plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, oculoplastic surgeons and cosmetic dermatologists. In 2016, she won 2nd place at the same conference in the ‘Best Feminine Rejuvenation Results’ category. However, first place went to a surgeon who had performed surgical rejuvenation, whereas Heather’s results were from non-surgical rejuvenation using ThermiVa, so she in fact was the best of the non-surgical rejuvenation results.

Michelle Sawyer, LMA

Master Medical Aesthetician in Seattle, WAMichelle Sawyer, LMA, is a highly regarded, licensed Master Medical Aesthetician with more than 10 years of experience in aesthetic medicine and anti-aging. She came to us from one of WA State’s most respected plastic surgery practices in Bellevue, where she developed a very large and loyal clientele over 10 years.

Michelle received her certification training to become a Medical Aesthetician from the Euro Institute in Seattle.

She has laser certifications from multiple laser, IPL and other energy-based device manufacturers, including Cynosure/Palomar, Lumenis, Syneron, Solta and Zeltiq. Michelle also has certifications from many skin care companies in the advanced use of their medical grade skin care products and make-up.

Karissa Sultemeier, LMA

Master Medical Aesthetician in Seattle, WAKarissa Sultemeier, LMA, is a licensed Master Medical Aesthetician who joined us after having worked in some of the most prestigious cosmetic practices in Seattle and Anacortes. She has a large following of very loyal clients and patients from the greater Seattle region.

Karissa is licensed in Washington State as a Master Medical Aesthetician, having received her certification as a Medical Aesthetician from the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute in Seattle.

She has been certified by various aesthetic medicine companies in the use of chemical peels, including those from SkinMedica™ and Vi™, and has also received certifications in micropeeling/dermaplaning from SkinCeuticals™. Karissa also has laser certifications from the laser manufacturer, Cynosure™. She has also been certified by many skin care companies in the advanced use of their medical grade skin care products and make-up. Karissa is very experienced in performing several different cosmetic procedures, including facials, chemical peels, micropeels/dermaplaning, microneedling and microdermabrasion.

Karissa’s philosophy is to provide professional result oriented skin care treatments with the utmost compassion and attention to detail. Amanda Hottel, CMA, CAC

Aesthetic Consultant in Seattle, WAAmanda is a Certified Aesthetic Consultant and Cosmetic Patient Care Coordinator.

Prior to joining North Sound Dermatology Aesthetics, she was a Medical Assistant for 12 years, most of which was spent in cosmetic, surgical and medical dermatology, including many years with North Sound Dermatology Aesthetics. It was during this period of extensive exposure to the subspecialties of dermatology that Amanda discovered her passion for aesthetics.

She regularly attends national cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery meetings to stay current with the latest advances in aesthetic and anti-aging medicine.

Amanda works closely with all of our aesthetics providers and, with her vast knowledge of treatments and skin care products, you can be assured that you will receive the very best advice and guidance, and with a heartfelt smile.
